The Black Queen

When I embarked on crafting the exquisite Black Queen ensemble, it all began with a the headpiece. Little did I know that this creation would evolve into something truly magical. The process unfolded organically, with the collar being the next piece to join the ensemble, crafted from vintage fabric I had carefully set aside for this very purpose.

Surprisingly, the entire costume came together with remarkable speed. Once I had set my mind on this project, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I already possessed everything I needed among my supplies.

One of my favorite elements of the costume was the elegant draping lace on the back and the charming brass image of a girl in prayer adorning the headpiece. These intricate details added an enchanting touch to the overall design.

After completing the costume, I decided to capture some initial shots with my assistant to gauge its appearance. However, the results didn’t quite match the vision I had in mind. It was at this point that fate intervened.

Coincidentally, a talented photographer I had collaborated with before was in the process of organizing another photoshoot. I reached out to her and inquired if I could include the Black Queen costume with the other items she wanted for the upcoming project. Without hesitation, I sent it on its way.

The outcome was nothing short of extraordinary. The resulting photographs transported us into a realm of fantasy and fairytales. Madeleine Liljestam, our stunning model, embodied the Black Queen character flawlessly. It was a fitting choice, considering her role as the lead singer of a captivatingly dark metal group hailing from Sweden.
