He was a great man my father. He was invited many years ago to join MENSA. He went to one meeting and never went back. I don’t know why, we were all quite young then. He told us it was a waste of time to sit around talking about how smart you are when you could be home watching Tom & Jerry or Scooby Doo. He was indeed brilliant. He skipped a few years in school as a child and when he entered college he was very short and grew a foot during college. He never said what his IQ was or how old he was when he went to college, clearly it is when boys grow a foot, during puberty. He never even talked about what exactly he did for a living. My first job out of high school was with him in the S.Bronx and I still don’t really know what he did with those giant computers. It was Local 32E Union Hall on Bronx Blvd and he was the boss and in charge of a room full of huge computers. I asked him many times, but he never really said much. He never made anyone feel stupid around him. He loved conversations with all kinds of people and he was real smart. If you had a book report you went to him before you went to the library or encyclopedia, he was faster. Most of my childhood was spent with my father, fishing, in the workshop, & watching monster movies while we baked bread. Every Sunday while my mom was at church, (she was the organist at St. Anthony’s Church in Butler NJ for over 35 years) my father and I were making homemade soups and breads for her and my two brothers to come home to. That was the way it was and I look back at my time with my dad fondly. He was a great man, he was my dad. xo
